   如果你熟悉乡村民谣，你应该不会不知道他。如果你喜欢乡村民谣，你应该不会错过他。
   在众多的乡村民谣大师中，Don Williams无疑是其中最优秀的一个。
从1973的第一张专集《Don Williams Volume I》到现在，Don Williams总共发行了31张专集。在此之前，Don Williams一直是Pozo Seco乐队的歌手。这为他日后作为独唱歌手的风格的形成起了决定性的作用。在他的技艺精湛的乐队的帮助下，  
   Williams创作了一种对所有人倾诉的音乐。他的乐队成员的精致和谐是无法用榜单和音乐家本身的技巧来描述，他们就如牛仔帽对于牛仔服饰一样与Williams和谐一致。
   Don Williams以他刚毅的男声唱出了他的温柔关切之情。在听他的音乐时，就好象是在和一个老朋友在娓娓叙说心事。这种风格在后期的音乐中表现得尤其突出。正如他自己所说：“我认为在日常生活中，没有什么比跟人打交道更重要的事儿了。对我来说，这就是全部。所以当你找歌的时候，如果有歌曲能够表达这些，那么你就找到了有那么些特别的东西了。”在Don Williams的音乐中很少有华丽的配器，一把吉他就是最好的伴奏。
   Don Williams的声音稳定沉着，然而又明亮华丽，这使得他以“温柔的巨人”这样的美誉成名。这个外号是他在上世纪七十年代早期获得的，那时他刚开始以“城市乡村乐(Countrypolitan)”流行并一直持续到了九十年代早期。Williams从来不是一个革新者，然后他的情歌却大受欢迎。在他的整个职业生涯里，共获得过17个冠军歌曲。
   八十年代早期，Williams放慢了他的职业脚步，这是由于他的背部出了问题。但是，他的歌曲仍然继续占据第一名的位置。1986年，他离开了MCA唱片公司－这时ABC已经成了MCA的一个厂牌－而改签Capitol公司。换东家对他的职业生涯没有任何影响，他继续不断地进入前十名。1987年，他接受了背部手术，治愈了他的问题。
   1987年，他签约RCA公司，继续有热门歌曲出现，然而，他的颠峰时代随着1992年早期的最后一首前十名歌曲"Lord Have Mercy on a Country Boy"结束了。尽管他一直持续演出直至九十年代中期，事实上他已退休回到纳什维尔的农场里了。1998年，他复出录制了"I Turn the Page"。但是发行这张专辑的Giant公司很快关闭了它的乡村音乐部。2001年，Williams发行了一张现场演唱专辑，而在2004年，他又带来了"My Heart To You".已老的Don Williams仍然充满着旺盛的创造力．
